Change of Insurer Information

Important Information for our customers who have Personal Accident, Cash Plans, Insured Advice, Legal Expenses or travel insurance policies

Proposed Change of Insurer from Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc (R&SA) to Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC (Great Lakes)

It is now over two years since the creation of FirstAssist as a major force in the healthcare and assistance arena and we are now entering an exciting new phase as we move into a long term partnership with the insurer who will replace R&SA as the underwriter of FirstAssist's Personal Accident, Cash Plan, Insured Advice, Travel & Legal Expenses insurance products.

Following the management buy-out in April 2003 of the R&SA Healthcare & Assistance business it was agreed that R&SA would continue to underwrite the FirstAssist insurance policies (all of which are reinsured by our long-term reinsurance partner Munich Re) until such time as an alternative underwriter was fully in place.

To implement this change of insurer the process being used is an insurance business transfer scheme in accordance with Part VII of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. This is a legal process involving two separate court hearings (the first of which has already taken place) as well as customer consultation.

Subject to the approval of the High Court, our intention is that from 1st March 2006, all current and new business for the following classes of business will be underwritten by Great Lakes (a subsidiary of Munich Re).

FirstAssist, working in conjunction with Great Lakes, will continue to have responsibility for sales, marketing, underwriting, pricing, administration, claims management and product development.
